GENERAL SUMMARY Salary: $20.00/hr. To perform a wide variety of technical and physical duties in the maintenance of concrete structures; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to the general maintenance function to include the repair of streets, alleys, etc.

here SUPERVISION - General supervision is provided by the Reconstruction Supervisor and Crew Chief.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Operate a variety of complex equipment including trucks, backhoes, air compressors, hydrohammers, jackhammers, pumps, loaders, concrete saws and mixers, hammer drills, generators and other similar equipment and machinery in repairing and installing concrete.
- Assist with preparation of concrete base including setting wood forms and positioning steel; measure and pour concrete; finish concrete; remove wooden forms and backfill; clean site; spread loam. Drive to and from destinations as assigned by Supervisor.
- Assist with preparation and disassembly of work site including placing and removing barricades; maintain safety regulations including wearing appropriate clothing, erecting proper barricades and signage and using proper equipment and materials.
- Utilize a variety of hand and manual tools to complete site projects.
- May provide functional and technical supervision as assigned.
- Installation of water and wastewater lines and services when assigned to Utilities.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
EXPERIENCE One year of experience in concrete finishing.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid driver's license.
Possession of a valid Class A Texas driver's license or obtain a Class A commercial driver's license within 90 days of employment as a condition of continued employment.
Failure to obtain a Class A driver's license within 90 days of employment may result in non-disciplinary termination.
If for some reason, beyond their control, a Concrete Finisher is unable to obtain their CDL license within the required timeframe noted above, the Department Director can waive the requirement, and the employee can continue employment with a reduction in pay. When assigned to Utilities: Obtain Class "C" Water certification within one year following successful completion of probationary period, if hired after January 1, 2003. Failure to obtain certification will result in non-disciplinary termination.
WORK SCHEDULE - Must be available to work 40 hours per week.
- Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
- Overtime and on-call duty as required.

The City offers three dental plan options: a managed plan (DHMO), an indemnity plan (DPPO), an enhanced indemnity plan (DPPO Enhanced). Coverage is available to all full-time employees at group rates.
The City offers free Vision Insurance to all employees. Dependents can be added for an additional fee.
Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees: Supplemental Life, AD&D Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Long-Term Disability
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
Other benefits include Social Security, Tax Saver Program (Section 125 Flexible Spending Account), Deferred Compensation Plans, Direct Deposit, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation, Sick Leave and Personal Leave.
