Job Summary: The Data Scientist Team Lead's primary role will be to lead and supervise a team of Data Scientists within a multi-functional team of clinicians, data analysts, operational leaders and scientists to solve clinically relevant problems related to optimizing patient access, flow, care and outcomes. Responsible for leveraging their expert knowledge of statistics, deep learning and programming to mentor and develop a team of Data Scientists. The position is a senior level, strategic business partner who maintains leadership level relationships. They will strive to understand the strategic and operational needs of his or her assigned business areas, provide direction and guidance to business partners functioning as a trusted advisor, and facilitate the prioritization of requests.
Job Duties: - Captures the strategic and operational enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organization and are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with business and analytic functional areas.
- Collaborates regularly with management team and subject matter experts (SMEs) to review business requests, priorities, and requirements.
- Manages the feedback loop to the business for existing requests and on-going projects to create visibility; Assists in prioritization of new requests based on strategic plans, level of effort, and resource constraints.
- Assists business partners as needed in navigating the demand management process, submitting requests, and utilizing analytic tools and resources.
- Develops and helps guide analytic, experimentation, and modeling strategies for projects involving data science and advanced analytics. Maintains end-to-end ownership of data science products.
- Utilize creative and innovative thinking with a focus on novel approaches to solve computational and analytic challenges related to health outcomes.
- Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to clinically relevant problems to improve health outcomes and healthcare operations.
- Collaboratively leads a cross-functional team of physicians, mathematicians, data analysts, and programmers working to apply complex analytic methods to clinically relevant problems related to optimizing patient care.
- Uses software such as Python, R, SQL, Hadoop and others to code deep learning / computational intelligence applications.
- Lead model validation and verification efforts for other junior data scientists.
- Contributes significantly to the design and implementation of data pipelines and governance for the machine learning program.
- Draft and review manuscripts and grants for technical accuracy.
- Actively participate and lead collaboration with external industry partners.
- Act as subject matter expert resource and coach and mentor for data scientists across the enterprise.
