About the Company - Our global client is seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator and Operating Systems Administrator to join their dynamic team. This is a 12+ months contract role and will be on-site. Candidates local to Boston and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply. About the Role - As an Oracle DBA & OS Administrator, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining large-scale, highly available distributed Oracle systems. You will collaborate with global teams, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and drive innovation in database architecture, performance tuning, and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the stability, performance, and security of Oracle database instances.
  • Collaborate with global teams on development, maintenance, and optimization projects.
  • Research and implement new technologies to improve database performance and scalability.
  • Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies.
  • Troubleshoot critical issues under pressure and implement long-term solutions.
  • Manage supporting infrastructure, including operating systems, hardware, and networks.
  • Assist with database migrations, particularly involving MySQL and MS SQL.

Qualifications - Strong experience with large-scale, high-availability Oracle databases.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of expertise in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and database scalability.
  • Deep understanding of UNIX/Linux operating systems, including system calls, memory management, and debugging.
  • Experience with MySQL and MS SQL databases, particularly in migration scenarios.

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work independently.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to perform under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams.
