The Procurement Manager for Commodities and Ingredients will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of commodities and ingredients essential for the company's production processes. As a category lead, this role involves strategic planning and executing sourcing initiatives, vendor management, cost analysis, and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality materials.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities :

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute a procurement strategy for commodities and ingredients that aligns with the company's business goals and cost-efficiency objectives.
  • Supplier Selection and Management: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and establish relationships with key vendors. Continuously assess supplier performance and manage relationships to ensure reliability and quality.
  • Cost Analysis and Budgeting: Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to make informed decisions on pricing and cost-saving opportunities. Create and manage procurement budgets.
  • Planning and Forecasting: Collaborate with supply planning to forecast and plan inventory to support production and adjust procurement plans based on demand fluctuation or market trend.
  • Inventory management: Implement inventory control strategies to monitor and optimize inventory levels.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality team to ensure that purchased materials meet quality and safety standards. Address any quality issues with suppliers promptly.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and market fluctuations that could impact the availability or cost of commodities and ingredients.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate favorable terms and conditions in procurement contracts, including price, delivery schedules, payment terms, and quality standards.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in all procurement activities, including ethical and sustainability considerations.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, global market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and adapt the procurement strategy as needed.
  • Relationship management: Build and maintain strong relationships with business functions and suppliers.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management in the CPG or manufacturing industry with a focus on commodities and ingredients.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of logistics (domestic and imports).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to interpret market data to make informed decisions.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
  • Familiarity with sourcing strategies, including global sourcing, and the ability to identify reliable suppliers.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, ethical sourcing, and sustainability practices.
  • The ability to identify and resolve procurement-related issues efficiently.
  • Experience with ERP system.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
