Job Description
Description Under the direction of the Education Administrator, prepare, cook and distribute a variety of foods in support of the program; develop and implement menus to meet Program needs in compliance with established standards and regulations; maintain food service facilities, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.
Requirements - Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years experience in quantity food preparation.
- Valid CA Driver License (must be able to meet this requirement by February 15, 2023)
- Valid Food Handler's Card issued by an authorized agency.
- Basic operation of a workstation (turning on/off, knowledge of basic functions and components) and general office equipment. Use/storage/maintenance of multiple usernames and passwords. Computer-related problem-solving skills through the use of available trainings and help desk.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), internet software and appropriate storage of electronic files.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
- A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
- Federal and State performance standards regarding nutrition.
- Quantity food preparation including washing, cutting and assembling food items and ingredients.
- Sanitation and safety practices related to handling, cooking and serving food.
- Standard kitchen equipment, utensils and measurements.
- Methods of adjusting and extending recipes and proper substitutions.
- Proper food storage temperature, practices and procedures.
- Portion control techniques.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
- Basic inventory practices and procedures.
- Proper lifting techniques.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Prepare, cook and distribute a variety of foods in support of the program.

- Prepare and portion food and beverages for distribution to classrooms and assure proper quantities.
- Learn nutritional requirements of school-aged children.

- Estimate and order food and supplies required to meet Program needs.
- Operate kitchen equipment used in cooking and quantity food preparation.
- Observe and follow health and sanitation requirements.
